Richard Fancy (born August 2, 1943) is an American actor known for his long recurring role on Seinfeld as publisher Mr. Lippman, Elaine Benes' one-time boss. He appeared on the third and fourth seasons of It's Garry Shandling's Show as network boss Mr. Stravely. He also plays the Priest in the 1991 Film What About Bob?, and was Kevin Arnold's high school principal, Dr. Valenti, in the fourth and fifth seasons of The Wonder Years.

He also had two memorable appearances in late 2005 on Boston Legal, as a crooked Catholic priest. He also appeared on The Wonder Years and as mob financier Bernie Abrahms on General Hospital since October 20, 2006, and his brother Benny, from 1997-2003.

Background

Fancy was born 2 Aug 1943[1] in Evanston, Illinois to salesman Raymond Chester Fancy (born 29 Sep 1903 in Canada; died 24 Aug 1978 in Sherman Oaks, CA), and a radio performer mother. Raymond's parents were Isaac "Nathaniel" Fancy (born 1857/8 in Lunenburg, NS; died 11 Jun 1938 in Italy Cross, Lunenburg Co, NS) and Magdalene Richard (born 6 Nov 1861 in LaHave Getson's Cove, Lunenburg Co, NS; died 2 Aug 1944 in Italy Cross, Lunenburg Co, NS). Richard Fancy is named after his paternal grandmother, Magdelene Richard. He is married to Johanna Fass, the daughter of screenwriters George and Gertrude Fass; they have two children.[2]
